Taizo Kuroda was born in 1946 in Japan. After moving to France and New York, he settled in Montreal where he studied ceramic art under Geatan Beaudin. During these studies, he returned to Japan twice to study under Tatsuzo Shimaoka in Mashiko.
In 1975, Taizo Kuroda began working as a designer for SIAL, a Canadian pottery company, and opened his own studio in St. Gabriel, Quebec in 1978. In 1981, he moved back to Japan and began working in his own studio in Matsuzaki, Izu. From 1984 to 1987, Mr. Kuroda ran "SHOP TAIZO" at Shibuya Parco, Tokyo. He moved his studio to Futo, Izu Peninsula in 1991 and his first exhibition of "White Porcelain" took place in Tokyo in 1992.
